Why Obedience is the Greatest Way to Show that We Love Jesus Christ
God always fulfills His Promise, He is God and doesn’t need to deceive anyone. When he promised Abraham that his descendants will reach the land of milk and honey this came true. When God promised King David that he will rule a great and powerful kingdom and would defeat all his enemies on all sides- God did not leave King David, even after King David’s death God remained faithful and true to his promise to David. When King Solomon asked for Wisdom, the Lord God gave more than just wisdom but also enormous riches and gold.
God remained True, Faithful and Loving to Mankind, it was mankind who in turn forgot to obey God’s commandments and chose to worship other idols, other gods. It was humans who decided to be unfaithful. It was King Solomon who took many wives and got persuaded by his wives to sin. It was the lust of King David that caused him to order his soldiers to put the husband of Bathsheba on the front lines of war so he could get murdered. It was the Israelites who decided to practice adultery and witchcraft that caused God to be angry and destroy many during war. It was the sin of the people of Sodom and and Gomorrah that caused God to destroy the entire city Many kings and queens fell due to their disobedience over the course of history.
“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.” (Proverbs 21:2)
It was human disobedience that for so long has separated mankind to God.
But God from time to time, since the written text of the Old Testament, had always unfailing and amazing love for human. It is only our great disobedience and rebellion, it is our tendency and nature to sin that caused us to be separated from the love of God. God is wise. The Lord understood, that man is incapable of becoming perfect and is not immune to temptations on earth. This is why in the old testament God required animal offerings, but due to the gravity of the sins of man and the ill will and impurity in man’s mind and the way humanity was corrupted. For God so loved humanity He sent Jesus Christ to be the ultimate Savior, the blameless, clean lamb who sacrificed Himself for humanity and whosoever believes in Jesus Christ shall be saved. After we have accepted Jesus Christ, we should be relentless in our pursuit on how to show Jesus Christ that we Love and Obey God in all aspects of our lives.
Many times in our life that we are disobedient. Many of us do not like rules. We do not like being told what to do. We tend to follow our own will and tend to think that we know better than God. We are easily tempted and the moment we succumb our lives get destroyed as a result. We as humans at times think we know what’s best for us. But the truth is we do not fully grasp and understand what is best for us.
This is why the Lord has given us His Word, the Holy Scriptures, the laws and creeds for us to stand by and obey. The Bible convicts us, and each and every statement written on the Bible is here to serve as a guide, as a law, as a living Word to follow so that we will avoid sinful acts, thoughts and deeds that lead us to our own destruction. God loves us, and God always wants the best for us. God did not author our demise, it was our rebellion, willfulness and lack of repentance that cause us repeated pain. and anguish. Once we have received Jesus Christ, we are already made new. Jesus Christ washed our sins, our sinful deeds, and as God’s sons and daughters it is now our ultimate duty to avoid disobeying Jesus Christ. For the real children and followers of Christ obey Jesus Christ’s teaching.
“Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.’” John 14:23
Let us not merely listen to the word of God, or post it as biblical quotes or biblical verses to adorn our social media walls. Let us instead Do what the Holy Bible is instructing us to do. Let us stop deceiving ourselves and God, and do what Jesus Christ instructs of us in the scriptures.
Let us follow the 10 commandments diligently. Relentlessly, and leave our old life behind. Let us stop displeasing the Lord our God and let us instead take up the task of Honoring the Lord even as we are still on this Earth.
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” James 1:22
Remember that the world and its desire will pass away. Our greed for riches, our lust, our transgressions. Our earthly dreams will fade away, our body will soon fade away, we are all bound to die. The most important thing in this life is not your loyalty to the needs of your family, your loyalty to the needs of your friends, or your fame, or your earthly riches, or your lovers– all of this will not matter in the Kingdom of God. All of these desires have no weight, and will not stand. Only the Kingdom of God should remain in you. You must Love Jesus Christ above All Else. For God is above all powers, riches you could ever imagine.
Do the will of God and you will not die, you will leave forever.
Let us be wise and kill our old self, let us made new and put our thoughts and love in Christ.
“The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” 1 John 2:17
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24
“Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.” Proverbs 10:17
