The idea for Tombstone Pillow was born after a visit to the Manila cemetery where real families live amongst the tombs and mausoleums. The story just had to be told, the situation in the cemetery also shocked Dream Team Directors Daniel Lir and Bayou Bennett. This led them to connect with writer and filmmaker Fraser Scott who decided to hop on board to create the story.

Award-winning author, film producer, musician, and humanitarian Lourdes Duque Baron is the Executive Producer and played the role of Olivia in the story. Her character Olivia was based on the life of a rich woman who went through a major life transformation and awakening to realize what is really essential and meaningful in life.

The emotions, world, and characters found in Tombstone Pillow are inspired by real life. The Philippines is one of the richest countries in the world when it comes to natural resources, but unfortunately, this is also the place where greatest corruption happens. The casting director Jam Vergara made sure to pick characters that would best depict the real situation. There are no Extras in this film, all the people who acted had a rawness to them, and honesty in the shot can quickly be noticed. Olivia played by Lourdes Duque Baron and Maria played by Kendra De Mesa also formed a strong visual setting which made the film even more alive.

The slums in Manila are so overcrowded and in such bad condition that 6,000 people decided rather than live in the slums they will live among the dead. The cemetery dwellers sleep, eat, go to school and perform all of the other functions of living in and around tombs – they literally use tombstones for pillows.
